Superman Actor Wants to Play Geralt in The Witcher TV Series | Gaming

Without a doubt, The Witcher fans are in eager anticipation for Netflix’s television adaptation of the developer CD Projekt Red’s action-RPG . However, with showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich having recently revealed that the project likely won’t make it to the streaming service until somewhere around 2020, it looks as if viewers will be waiting quite a while until the TV series airs. So, while the producers are still busy nailing all of the program’s parts into place, the Superman actor Henry Cavill has now decided to throw his hat into the ring to the character Geralt of Rivia.

As seen below in Cavill’s interview with IGN for the Mission: Impossible – Fallout press tour, the Superman lead expressed his interest in donning the armor of the White Wolf by saying he had just re-played The Witcher 3 all the way through, and would “absolutely” love to play the character. Not only does the actor appear to be a super fan of the CD Projekt Red games, but also he enjoys the literature that inspired the multi-platform series, with Cavill calling the books “amazing”.

As of now, there’s no telling who The Witcher‘s creators are thinking about casting in the role of Geralt for the upcoming Netflix series, but it’s worth noting that Cavill is not the only actor to say that he would like to partake in the project. As it so happens, Star Wars‘ Mark Hamill previously stated that he would up for playing Vesemir – that is, the White Wolf’s mentor. While Hamill doesn’t seem to be as familiar with the fantasy-RPG as Cavill, the notion of seeing the men who portrayed Luke Skywalker and Superman, respectively, on-screen together is interesting to say the least.

Taking all of this into consideration, while some might disagree with Cavill being a prime candidate to play Geralt of Rivia, there’s no doubt that he would bring his all to the character, especially considering the apparent breadth of knowledge he has of The Witcher as a whole. And for those unaware, the Superman actor is also known for being a gamer, which gives him incentive to make sure Geralt is portrayed as accurately as possible on-screen.

Netflix’s The Witcher TV series has yet to receive an official air date.
