Zelda and Necrodancer Crossover Cadence of Hyrule Release Date Leaks
While The Legend of Zelda fans look forward to E3 2019, hoping for a deeper look at Nintendo Switch exclusive Link’s Awakening, another Zelda title may arrive before the convention. Cadence of Hyrule, a cross-over game mixing Zelda and Crypt of the Necrodancer, could have just had its release date leaked and it’s nearer than expected. Appearing as part of the source code within Nintendo of America’s own website is the listed release date of May 30.
Prior to today, Cadence of Hyrule was listed under a May 31 placeholder release date on Nintendo of America’s official storefront listing for the game. However, in the past week, the metadata for the profile has slowly been populated with new information, but the metadata for Cadence of Hyrule‘s release date was only just updated.
Should the release date leak prove accurate, which given the source and context of the leak seems reasonable, it will come as quite a surprise. Cadence of Hyrule was announced only two months ago. At the time, Cadence of Hyrule‘s release window was a broad “2019,” but an imminent release would certainly provide a bit more excitement for Nintendo leading into E3 2019.
Cadence of Hyrule remains a Nintendo Switch exclusive, another example of Nintendo’s growing willingness to lend its IP to indie developers with creative ideas. If Nintendo’s willing to launch Cadence of Hyrule in the lead-up to E3, the company must be very confident in the game.
Cadence of Hyrule, like Crypt of the Necrodancer before it, is a combination rhythm game and roguelike. Players can choose to play Cadence, the protagonist of the original game, Zelda, or Link, traversing randomly generated areas in rhythm to the beat.
Cadence of Hyrule will be filled with items and enemies from the Zelda franchise, featuring 25 classic songs from the franchise with a chiptune remix from Super Meat Boy composer Danny Baranowsky.
Cadence of Hyrule releases in 2019 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
