e-pay will integrate with SportsHero app to facilitate the sale of its tickets to the users of the online payments firm, who want to participate in sports competitions. The partnership will enable SportsHero to reach and access millions of consumers in Malaysia, where 65 per cent of the population is interested in football, said a press statement.
SportsHero’s fully localised Malaysian app launch follows the platform’s entry into the Indonesian market, as well as the major partnership announcement with Spain’s top football division, LaLiga, in Indonesia. Malaysia has similar demographics to Indonesia in terms of its cash economy, whereby the majority of the population does not have access to credit cards.

Launched in March 2016 with a US$2.4 million in funding led by Australia-based Nevada Iron, SportsHero is a gamified social sports prediction platform where users can predict, interact and compete on all major sports – virtually, and in real-time – to become a SportsHero. Fans can interact with fellow sports fans on the SportsHero network in a number of ways to make any game more interesting and competitive. Top-ranked sports fans are included on its leader board, and they are eligible to win daily, weekly and monthly prizes in conjunction with its brand partners.
The customised SportsHero app will be in the Malay language and will focus on the biggest global and regional football leagues, with market-specific prize incentives for Malaysian users. This localised app will be available for download in Malaysia only.
