Virtual reality is more than just gaming

Virtual reality is more than just gaming, which was a key message at Thursday night’s second presentation of Innovate Marquette Smart Zone’s Tech Series.

The purpose of the series is to explore technology growth in the area.

This month is focusing on how virtual reality can be utilized by different industries.

Among the speakers at the event was Robert Shirlin, the owner of Edge of Reality Arcade in Marquette.

He spoke about how virtual reality is catching on with even the older generation, hospice patients and veterans alike.

“Virtual reality is not a fad, it is happening, it is growing,” said Shirlin. “It is working its way into so many different things from educational applications to meetings around the world; to allowing opportunities for people of different walks of life and areas of the world to come together and work on a common project.”

All of the Innovate Marquette Tech Series events are free for the public to attend.
