Cut the chatter on WhatsApp groups with this new feature | Top Stories

It's inevitable – posting a message in a group invariably leads to unwanted chatter.

Luckily, WhatsApp now has a new for Android phones for cutting the chatter. And once it's turned on, only admins will be allowed to send messages to the group.

To access it, open Group info, tap Group settings and change the Send messages option from “All participants” to “Only admins”.

According to WhatsApp's Google Play page, non-admins will still be able to read messages but will only be able to respond privately to admins by tapping “message admin”.

The feature was rolled out to iOS devices in July.

Also, with the latest WhatsApp update to iOS today, users can now use Siri to send messages to WhatsApp groups.

And the recently announced group voice and video call option has also been rolled out to iPhones in the update, allowing users to have a conversation with up to four people at a time.

The feature works a little like setting up a chat group – first start a one-on-one voice or video call then tap the “add participant” button on the top right corner to add more contacts to the call.
