Mortal Kombat 11 Fans Are Tired of Director’s ‘Trolling’

Ever since the of Mortal Kombat 11 back in April, fans have been asking for more details on who the MK11 DLC characters will be and when they will be available. While it has now been confirmed that Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn will eventually join Mortal Kombat 11‘s Shang Tsung as DLC fighters, release dates for these three characters are still nowhere in sight, and fans are starting to grow tired of Mortal Kombat 11 director, and series co-creator, Ed Boon’s frequent teasing on Twitter.

Indeed, Boon’s Twitter feed has been filled with cryptic hints about, and teaser images of, the forthcoming Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters for months, but there has been no indication of when these fighters will make their way to the game. Additionally, some of Boon’s tweets have been taken as the director poking fun at those that are losing their patience about the release of these characters, and this “trolling” is starting to prove frustrating for some players.

Over on the Mortal Kombat subreddit, a post titled “Ed Boon’s trolling isn’t funny anymore” has been gaining some traction. At the center of this post is the sentiment that the lack of any details on the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC fighters, aside from a teaser image for Sindel and an image and teaser trailer for Nightwolf, is deflating the excitement around the game, and Boon’s teasing is just making matters worse.

While some of the Redditors participating in this thread do voice frustration about the length of time that it is taking for the MK11 DLC fighters to arrive, noting that three Mortal Kombat X DLC characters had been released at this point in that game’s lifecycle, others simply want transparency about when they might come. One user sums up this position, stating, “I don’t even care if they take longer to release. At least give us some updates or estimates. Doesn’t even have to be a trailer. Just a simple tweet giving us a time frame.”

Furthermore, those that seem to be most frustrated about the situation are players that have already purchased the Mortal Kombat 11 Kombat Pack, which is to give them access to six DLC characters alongside a myriad of Mortal Kombat 11 cosmetic items. “It’s so BS to pay $40 for a Kombat Pack then have to wait so long without any release dates, trailers, or anything except character pictures,” the original poster writes on this matter.

Ultimately, it appears that many fans just want to know when they can expect to receive the content that they paid for, and they would prefer to get that information without feeling as though they are being made fun of for wanting it. While the purpose of Boon’s tweets may simply be to increase the hype around the Mortal Kombat 11 DLC characters, it appears that, at this point in time, these tweets may be having the exact opposite effect.

Mortal Kombat 11 is out now for PC, PS4, , and Xbox One, with a Stadia version in development.
