A fresh press release just revealed great news for Timesplitters fans, as publisher THQ has now acquired the to the cult IP and will undoubtedly have plans to remake old games and/or make brand new ones.

It wasn't the only IP acquired by THQ Nordic, which by now has a veritable treasure trove of those. They also bought the rights of Second Sight, another game made by Free Radical Design (the creators of Timesplitters) and released in 2004.

Timesplitters was largely considered as one of the most influential console games of the early 2000's. The three game series earned a large and passionate fan base thanks to its unique humour, art style and pop culture references while encouraging customization and modification to give each person their own individual experience. Timesplitters was originally created by the development studio Free Radical Design that later become Deep Silver Dambuster, part of the THQ Nordic group.

In addition to Timesplitters, the IP and the rights to science fiction action-adventure game Second Sight were acquired. Both acquisitions were made through THQ Nordic's fully owned subsidiary Koch Media GmbH.

Deep Silver Dambuster, more recently behind Homefront: Revolution and made of several former Free Radical Design developers, was also acquired alongside Deep Silver as a whole by THQ Nordic earlier this year. There's a chance the game might once again be handled by its creators. Stay tuned for more!
